Not sure how to find The Hi-Life? Head down Market Street to Ballard and look up! The 20-foot neon sign atop the brick building's elevator shaft says it all: EAT-DRINK.

BALLARD’S AMERICAN GRILL
Bringing order to Seattle’s seasonal mood disorder
with our seasonal menus

Located in the 101 year old historic Firehouse No. 18 built in 1911, we serve up a rotating menu that features the best of our four seasons here in the Pacific Northwest. With an emphasis on our grilled and brick oven roasted dishes, our line turns out tasty, full flavored food for breakfast, lunch and dinner each and every day.

Our Fall dinner menu offers up a number of seasonal small plates. The Brussel Sprouts appetizer is a warm salad with hard seared sprouts, pancetta, red wine poached pear & shaved Pecorino.  The Santa Clams is our special small plate that has 1/2# local clams sauteed with bacon & leeks in garlic-white wine cream.   For a meal, we like our Winter Vegetable Beef Stew- Port braised beef with a plethora of winter vegetables & semolina parmesan dumplings. Our vegetarian main dish is season is the Cauliflower 'Steaks'- seared parmesan crusted thick sliced cauliflower, sauteed sun chokes & brussels sprouts over leek chimichurri. Served with a tiny lemon dressed watercress salad.

Our American Grill menu offers up our year round favorites including, Hickory Smoked Spareribs with Bodacious BBQ Sauce, a fine Montana raised Wagyu Hamburger, and an assortment of brick-oven pizzas, or for those late-late risers, our Nighthawk Breakfast is available for dinner.

Breakfast brings home the bacon with the standard breakfast options, or you can try one of our Hi-Life Habits, which include Clean-up on Aisle 12, a delicious root vegetable hash, or our ever present Biscuits & Gravy. Go ahead, wash it all down with a Firehouse Bloody Mary and roll home for a nap.

Check out our Not-so-Early-Bird Ballard Breakfasts that are available Monday-Friday only. Your choice of 5 dishes for only $6.50!

Lunch sets you up with a wide selection of signature sandwiches such as our Black Bean & Quinoa Burger served with a salad, or our B.L.T. with lemon aioli. Not in the mood for a sandwich? Then try one of our entrées like the Chicken Pot Pie with a savory stew and biscuit crust or our classic Fish & Chips made with Alaskan True Cod, and, don’t forget that we serve our full breakfast menu every day ‘til 3pm.

We also have a fine little private dining room available. We can host a combination cocktail party and sit down dinner for up to 26 seated or 36 cocktail if you please. For more information, check out our Private Dining Room page.

Hi-Life NEW Winter menu!

New Year. New resolutions.  New winter season. New winter menu. See what we did there? However, there are a couple things that stayed the same: the Seahawks are in the playoffs again and the consistent deliciousness that comes out of the Hi-Life’s kitchen. Our new winter menu offers fresh local ingredients with a winter twist. A couple of the staff's favorites include: Brussels Sprouts- warm salad with hard seared sprouts, pancetta, red wine poached pear, shaved Pecorino and Cauliflower ‘Steaks’ (Vegetarian dish)-Seared parmesan crusted thick sliced cauliflower, sautéed sun chokes & Brussels sprouts over leek chimichurri. Served with a tiny lemon dressed watercress salad.
